Hickinbotham Vertical (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Plummy earthy, slightly baked fruits, plenty of oak spice lends vanilla, chocolate, again there is a touch of rubbery reductiveness. Juicy and fleshy with ripe plums, chalky textured tannins, alcohol warmth is well managed but present, chocolate, and a little sour red plum note on the finish. Meh

2017 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/16/2017-10/25/2017 (New York City, NY): Rich in black and red bramble fruits, this deep ruby (100% Merlot) wine adds notes of loamy earth, baking spices and savory herbs. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, appropriately oaked and with nicely integrated alcohol (14.5%), it wraps its flavors with generous sweet tannins, stays solid in the middle and finishes with impressive length. This is a quality, structured red that will benefit from additional cellaring. Drink 2019-2030.

Crimson color. Unbelievable nose of gushing red and black currants and plums, such depth and purity of fruit with notes of sweet roses, menthol, eucalyptus, cola, cigar box. Full but suave on the palate with surprisingly crisp acidity that keeps the wine fresh, with waves of red cherries and gushing blackberries. Complex notes of cola, violets, charcoal, sweet pipe tobacco, eucalyptus. Gorgeous, velvety, fresh, vibrant now but this will be even better with 5-7 years. All Merlot aged 15 months in French oak.
