Popped and poured this after a long night of other wines. Nice nose of jammy red fruits. The nose was the only thing saving this wine. On the palate was just spice, leather and tobacco. Barely any fruit was present. I was not impressed and the color was very light.

Given Dry Creeks reputation and given the average bottle price, this wine is a huge disappointment. Little nose, dry, and as said previously the level of acidity detracts from the wine. Parker gave 2001 North Coast Zins 90 points for the overall vintage, so this batch of grape/juice was simply poor. After having some time to breath, it did seem to open up at bit.

Served with pasta and a simple homemade tomatoe sauce. Hint of cherry cola with red fruits. This was a soft fruit forward simple wine at first taste. Mid pallet had some tight tannis and a little astringency. Light hint of pepper of on the finish. I think of this as a Zin Lite.

Morning of Zin Tasting in Dry Creek Valley (Dry Creek Valley): Out of balance, very acidic. Something I can't identify about this but know I don't like. Something sticks out. Not smooth.
