  • PHILLY CT GATHERING -DR CRANE NIGHT
Sean suggested that we kick off the evening with the two '14 that were brought to the table. Why not? 10 years seems like a great starting point for high end Napa cabs. I gave this wine 90 minutes of air in the bottle. This was good to go, and got better with time in the glass. great aromas of blackberries. terrific balance, purity of fruit and polished tannins. Blackberries, black currants, hints of tobacco, leather and tar. finished with nice minerality. this is likely drinking at its peak.

Overall, Dr Crane impresses for the depth and purity of fruit, balanced with a great sense of minerality. Overall, the 2014s have drunk well, up to this point in time

  • The three previous reviews nailed some of the notes. Exceptional nose and the palate was even better. The wine revealed black fruit and a great mid palate filled with tension that had a long finish and great profile that made you want to drink more. Went great with the steak we enjoyed tonight. Loved the food, wine 🍷, and the company. Exceptional and glad I have more. These 2014 Beckstoffer wines I have been having recently are show stoppers.

  • Initially, I was highly skeptical of the high scores, but after taking a “whiff”, I was completely mesmerized and intrigued! 😳. Deep, rich, and decadent…like a kid getting lost in a blackberry patch with purple lips, this is exceptionally impressive. Perfectly integrated; huge black fruit delivery, silky tannin, and lingering acidity, all of which focus into a laser like, long finish. I’m certain this is probably a “Parker favorite”, typically not something I’d gravitate towards, but the “Last Bottle” deal was too good to pass up…I only wish I’d gone in for another 3-pack! Sometimes, taking a walk on the “dark side” can yield enjoyment, and enrichment, with a lack of guilt! 🫣🫣🫣 Enjoyed with a grilled, NY Strip, mushrooms, a sautéed Brussels sprouts.

  • Great wine. I think it was the best of the three. Slightly better than the Missouri-Hopper.

  • Electric black fruit. Smooth as silk with a hefty but athletic body. This line could play Defensive End at the pro level. My only bottle, which is a shame because I’d love to see how these tannins continue to integrate.
