Crazy to drink this early… restrained nose. High toned dried strawberries. Deep purple. Tanin high. More elegant than Beaune…starts to open at 3 hrs. Asleep?
Wait at least 5 years.
Day 2 is much better. Fruit is high toned violet and a touch of blue. Still restrained. Give at least 5 years. Maybe 10.

Not as good as the 2012, but I ve a feeling i ve missed out here.. Best on the second day , so should have perhaps given it some time in the decant rather then just pop and poured. Was too earthy at first but it revealed nice black fruit on second day.

Kevin Zrlay Red Burg: Wine number 9. Wish I drank this earlier to give a more honest assessment. 90-91
Nose: spice, earthy, blood red raspberry , dried raspberry Palate: brooding blood red raspberry, dried raspberry, potpourri, iron, subtle vanilla Structure: big. Feels like a powerful wine. With lots of grip, dark brooding fruit and balancing acidity. A little bit/spice on the finish. A little fuzzy and less polished.
If you like raspberry (dark red, fresh and dried) this is for you.

This was a tasty Gevrey and reasonable value; normally wouldn't open this young, but wanted to try this producer so served alongside some ribeyes; the nose is currently dominated by dark fruits and spice; not much in the way of savory/earthy notes. Not too surprising given the age. The palate has very good concentration for a village wine and you can certainly feel just under the surface there is quite a structure. I imagine this will close down in the near future, but should be excellent in 10 years.
