Drank at The Bulls Head, Hale Barns with fellow CT member, Cockneyred. I might have suggested Bordeaux but probably not the left bank as this Merlot dominated wine did not display the cedar, cassis, lead pencil tannic structure that I would have expected from say, St. Estephe. Instead this plummy softish wine provided a more right bank pleasure. The colour was comparatively paleish with some transparency on the edge. The nose suggested good damson fruit and this followed through nicely onto the palate. The tannins were subdued resulting in a nicely finished smooth tasting wine. Unusually for me, drunk without food and this was I think the right way to drink it. A very interesting wine but something for me was missing in action. I do not see any reason to lay this wine down for much longer. 89/90.

Pop and pour. This is tightly wound but accessible with ladles of earth and espresso, turning to mocha later in the evening. Tannins are very firm; will probably last a long time. I can enjoy this now but others will prefer to wait a bit for it to relax.

Russk. Bought after the Primo Sunrise blind tasting. $43P. So soft, blind I thought it could not be St Estephe (technically it is not, it is Goulee), seeming more like a Margaux or St Julian. One my top 2 wines from the tasting. And I have liked this wine in the past.

A delayed 40.5th birthday (Copse Hill, Lower Slaughter): Opened late in the evening and no formal notes taken. Lingering impression of it being lush and generous and appealing.
