  • Bright straw yellow.
Delicate at nose: white tea and peaches.
Lacking some structure at taste. Low acidity, maybe due to age, but good minerality. Some sugarsweet notes at the end.
    Probably past its window.

  • 11% alcohol. Served blind.

Very pale light yellow color. Aromatic nose with delicate nuances of sweet apple blosso, some peach, a little bit of something vaguely smelling like cooking bananas and a hint of hay. Overall the wine smells very much like an Arneis to me, only a bit sweeter. The wine is medium-bodied and a bit neutral on the palate with moderately high acidity and delicate yet quite juicy flavors of ripe apples, some hay, a little bit of fresh minerality and a hint of stone fruits. Although the wine comes across somewhat neutral, there is surprisingly much stuffing to the wine - even some hints of concentration, probably courtesy of the old vines. The finish is quite long with somewhat neutral and clean, yet rather succulent flavors of yellow apples, some stony minerality, a little bi tof herbal greenness and a hint of hay.

A nice and stylish white Chignin. Jacquère usually gets bashed for being so neutral and insipid a variety, and true to the variety, this wine is somewhat neutral in style. However, there is undeniably some sense of richness and concentration to the wine - it is not obvious, but the wine definitely isn't neutral nor bland, but instead very well-balanced and sophisticated. My first guess was that this was Arneis, but once it became clear we weren't drinking Italy, the guessing game became a bit harder. However, it didn't take me too long to relocate us into Savoie. Overall a nice effort, although one for early consumption only. This wine really doesn't scream aging potential. At 17,88€ this wine is a bit on the expensive side for an everyday wine, but still somewhat reasonably priced for the quality.
