2014 is, IMO, a great, great beaujolais vintage. This one is not a great Beaujolais. Bought on closeout for $18, this is poor value even at the discounted price. Basically it lacks the vibrancy found in the better 2014s. Objectively it's not bad, but the fruit is subdued and there's a peppery quality that is surprising in this vintage, one I associate more with Loire renditions of gamay. Again, not bad, but lots of better offerings for the price. For instance, in Julienas, the Sunier brothers each have far superior options.

A little disappointed with this one. Color was pale garnet but appeared a little cloudy in the glass. Had black pepper, cranberry and other typical beaujolais aromas and a tart, slightly sour taste with high acidity. The acidity actually made it okay with the turkey. However, the wine lacked freshness and definition of flavors and overall seemed tired and flat. This bottle may have been flawed.

This is my only bottle and I'm not positive its not flawed, so this note comes with a big grain of salt. Pretty bitter finish, very acidic, and kind of hot. Can taste the classic Beaujolais in there, sour cherry, maybe a little sage or pine. But what I like about Beaujolais is how easy the good ones are to drink - and this isn't quite in that category.

Cru Beaujolais Tasting - Exploring all the Crus (New York, NY): #3 of 21 cru bojo tasted. The second entry from Julienas, much more youthful than the first. This one was very tart on the palate, the acidity seemed it a bit out of balance for me. I think this would have improved if consumed with food. The group voted 1 penny for this wine, none for me.

Delicious, with red fruit and tobacco on the nose. Distinct minerality. Overall a great example of what I expect from a good Beaujolais.
