Community Tasting Notes (10) Avg Score: 90.5 points

  • PnP. Cherry, dark berry, violets, underlying earthy and mushroom notes. More accessible than when I last tasted it in May 2022, but still a bit tight. Great fruit, balance, and acidity, but it could still use some time in bottle. If you have multiple bottles, it's worth trying now, but this will get better with a few more years, so save some.

  • Fresh and fruity, delightful. I could drink this every day, classic and classy Beaujolais.

Prior enthusiastic tasting notes really cover it, I'll be rushing down to get more !!

  • PnP. Dark cherry and darker berries, earthy. A bit tight with medium body, medium+ acid, well integrated tannins. It's a bit brawny, which you kind of expect for Julienas, but it drinks pretty well now. But I think a few more years of bottle age will do wonders. You can drink it now, but save a few for 3-5 years from now.

  • Shared the bottle with my mother (who is a grandmother) for Mother's Day weekend. Aromatically complex nose of cherries and florals supported by wet gravel and earthiness. Really gets interesting after about 35 mins! Hints of rubber and baking spices and touch of mushrooms with herbs. The palate is very dry and savory where the fruit and florals on the nose steps aside for the earthiness. Medium to full bodied with fine grained tannins. Outstanding big finish that's long, savory and spicy. *Cedric is the 5th generation Chignard vigneron; took over for the family in 2007. *from 1 ha plot in the SW hook of Julienas from 76 y.o. vines planted in 1946!

  • Pale-medium ruby with almost a dark pink hue. Cranberry, raw meat, salt, wet earth on nose. High acidity muted by earthiness. Medium tannin. Low alcohol. Dark plum, Forrest floor, leather, white pepper. There is some strawberry/cranberry acidity but very balanced with the complexity of other flavors. Long finish, beguiling wine.
