Wow, what a Zin, they don't come better than this! Drank at lunch alongside a 2014 Realm Nine Suns, it came in second by a point: 98, 97, 97, 97. Hard to believe a Zin could give a big Cab a run for the money, but it did, and at half the price. Pretty impressive!

JD Friday Wine Group - ED host (City Club, FW): Served blind - with dessert. Here's that zinfandel we were all expecting. And one of the best. The chocolate dessert took away any of the sweetness of the wine, and brought out the alcohol. So maybe not the best pairing. Fruit forward, but not in your face. Tannins were still high, and this could use some more time in my opinion. But still a great wine, and a fun way to end the evening.

Ruby color, translucent. Mostly red fruit complex aromas of strawberries, raspberries and cherries, moderately pronounced; elegant and complex, but not big and bold. On the palate medium body, soft and round, mostly black cherry fruit, nice acidity, light tannins, very long, slightly hot, sweet aftertaste. Excellent, but I prefer the bolder, richer style of Turley's Dusi and Ueberroth, which are more concentrated and flavorful, especially when young. Ric

Still the pinnacle of CA Zin (maybe the world) - this is a bit of a great departure - previous vintages had a lot of secondary notes and were much deeper - current releases are just massive - and now we have Goldilocks! Amazing fruit, with currant, blackberry, fruit cake - but ever smooth, a hint of alcohol at the end, but unique to this vintage is a lovely floral tone that meanders throughout the palate. Just an amazing wine, can certainly age, but this appears to be the “just right” moment for this wine.

Wowee kazowee, what a Zin! Huge but smooth as silk, deep Zin flavors with a hint of spice (maybe cinnamon?). Tasted with a monster Bevan Cabernet, the pair was extraordinary. Both big and brawny examples of their grape and what can be done with it. I would put this Zin up against the Cab big boys with confidence it would hold its own.
