Part of a vertical Bolly tasting, mostly not RD, but we had this side-by-side with the 1996 Grande Annee. The latter was a terrific wine but this was just another step up. Gorgeous nose and very very long on the palette with yeast/toast/brioche and subtle fruit. Intense and piercing.

blind In the beginning it felt older than the side glas and I thought about a BdB even the finish is a bit blurred. Getting better after 10-15 minutes. After getting the info 60-40 PN-CH it was "easy" to detect. I was never a R.D. fan and I think I will never be. Prefer Grande Annee from Magnum. The cristal same vintage "destroyed" the R.D. 93

(Bollinger Champagne R.D. Extra Brut) R.D. (“recently disgorged”) is basically a Grand Année that has been kept behind for an extra three years’ aging on the lees. It receives a dosage of only 3 grams per liter. This yellow-gold wine has a nose of white chocolate, chalk, and mushrooms, expressed on the palate as shiitakes. A fullbodied, earthy, winey Champagne, it finishes bone dry. The Shifting Landscape of Champagne

Old. Dark yellow. Very little effervescence. Pleasant but on the edge of turning sour.

Whilst not exactly advanced, this did show age. Would've liked this better with more acidity/freshness. Detail notes may yet follow...
