P: Med body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an almost swtish, very, VERY finely tannic pucker which pretty much extends through the LONG, very, VERY finely tannic/spicy, ult swtish finish. An interesting style which reminds me of a CA Zin, this NEEDS until Summer of '19, I'm guessing, then potentially making its 10th yr... IF the potential threshold R.S. isn't an issue. 13.5% ABV 94 pts Suckling, 93 WA, 91 Vinous & Luca Gardini, and 90 5StarWines - Vinitaly [This vendor's $24.95 CRUSHES the only other currently listed wine-searcher source by ~$14!]

Dinner at Barbaracca, Godalming (after a large wine tasting elsewhere in the town). Perhaps my palate was jaded, but this tasted thin to me compared to other vintages of this personal favourite from the past. Floral and minerally with firm acid spine that was somewhat dominant with the relative lack of depth of fruit (blackcurrant and wild berries such as it was). OK but disappointing when put against expectation.

Society of Wine Educators Conference- Sicily: Past, Present and Future session: Aromas of rose hips, plums and iron. Adds depth on the palate with rich and dense black fruit over a mineral and spice core. Medium acid, smooth feel, fine tannins, and full depth on the finish. Excellent.
