Light purple in appearance with long clinging legs , there is a medium+ nose showing off aromas of violets, blackcurrants and cassis, red cherries/kirsch,and plums. Along with these fruity notes , there are hints of camphor, wet earth, and a slightly feral leathery quality. On the palate , acidity and tannins are evident and add to the chewy quality , and you get flavours of cassis, cherries and plums. Chilled , on a hot summer's evening, this was a delicious accompaniment to a superb sirloin steak. Exceptional value - and bear in mind that in Bergerac these wines are often served " frais" to accompany charcuterie and grilled meats.
