Tasted after 1 hour of air. Very expressive. Smoke and olives. Tannic grip. Plenty of dark plum fruit. Pepper. Very spicy. Quite a bit going on here. Very complex. Finishes with all of the elements in perfect harmony. An excellent effort.

Double decant. Red fruits, ham, spice and floral notes. Long dry finish that is delicious albeit a touch medicinal. I truly believe the Charles Smith/Brennon Leighton team is making the very best wine that Washington has to offer. You can count on a K Vintners or single vineyard Substance wine to deliver a complex and unique experience every time you open a bottle. I am also grateful that they keep the prices fair and pour genorously at the tasting room.

ESTG does American Syrah (and Petite Sirah) (Seattle, WA, USA): Weird nose, stalky, charcoal. Complex palate, celery seed. Tannic. Pretty interesting and funky, really divided the group.

K Vintners & Sixto & Substance Tasting; 6/18/2019-4/26/2020 (Walla Walla Tasting Room): Lots of potential here. Plum, black olives, smoke, chocolate and pepper. A bit tight and needs time but the wine should evolve. Drink 2022 to 2030.
