Robe bourgogne pâle. Vin léger et assez court en bouche. Sur les fruits rouges, olive noire et fumée. Peu complexe pour un vin de ce prix. Selon moi, vin en pente descendante.

From 75cl screwcap. As noted on 27.09.2020. The higher score tonight is based on the laser-clarity of red fruit, with just a hint of bright loganberry and perhaps strawberry coming through as the wine reaches full maturity. Pure, one-dimensional, uncomplicated but excellent. Don't wait too long before drinking up. 89–90P

From 75cl screwcap. High acid; laser-precise pure bright red fruit; zingy through to the final drop; super-clean, without obtrusive oak or technical flaws. This Calvert is light and quick-footed, with considerable finesse (not to be confused with depth, let alone complexity) and short-term charm. Yes, at 50 EUR German retail it's overpriced. Yes, these days there's a wide choice of equally good – or better – European PNs from Germany, Austria, indeed France at this price point. But I'm still pleased to have bought a few bottles each of the entry-level 2016 Felton Road PNs if only because they remind me why my first experiences of NZ PN 20 years ago were such a revelation at the time. Fortunately many European winemakers obviously felt the same way and sharpened up their act; their customers are now profiting year to year. Now-2023. 88-89P

Went very well with a lamb leg with spices. Very well balanced.

Bought from a shop in NY after we had the 2007 of this wine. That wine was amazing.
Color. Pale red.
Nose. Burnt marshmallow. Its so definitive. Some other jazz going on. Raspberries and raspberry jam.
Palate. Strawberries, cigars, smoke and some earth. Its really delicious and delicate.
I hope this wine adds some additional complexity as it ages.
