Initially a scorched earth nose - that gives way to an aroma of roses on steroids, concord grape juice and a hint of camphor On the palate it is round and plush with ripe dark red fruit and just a bit of that classic Rhone earthiness/meatiness. There is still just a little tannin and acidity behind it all suggesting it definitely has 5-10 more good drinking years Improves with time in the glass. I started out scoring at 91, then 92 - but it's more and more pleasurable drink and better than that. Really drinking beautifully right now

Deep red with an orange tint on edges. Nose, cinnamon, almonds, violets, white pepper, warm apple pie, ripe plums, raisin. Drinking ripe red fruits, a bit acidity and little tannic, oak, leather tobacco on the medium finish. Alcohol well integrated. On first open, richer in younger fruits, blood, iron, meat then a bit of bitterness and oak set in then over an hour window it drank really well - now on hour two the decline is setting in. Bitterness is setting in a bit. I say if you got a few times up - drink up and enjoy in one sitting. This was my last one.

If you want to know what it's like when a good wine begins a graceful decline, open a bottle of this. There is still a sweet edge to the fruit, but it's also showing the subtle notes of decay that signal a wine in the last stages of life. Browning on the edges, oxidative and earthy touches around the fruit and dried/decaying leaves and brown tobacco on the finish signal full maturity and beyond. It's lovely to drink now, but I also satisfied with this being my last bottle.

Medium, cloudy, ruby red in color with some clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of well developed, mature & complex, ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blueberries & plummy with leather, some cedar, spices, classic garrigue, floral notes of lavender, dried herb notes of sage & thyme, earthy, pepper, aged tobacco, coffee, iron, dried herbs & minerals. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced, smooth textured, well developed, mature & complex ripe red fruit flavors of cherries, berries & plums with dried herbs, anise, earthy, meaty, some dark cocoa, spices, minerals and a touch of heat. Long lingering finish. Drinks well at present and I would not expect any further development from additional aging.
