Medium to dark ruby colour. Smelled and tasted modern. Medium-bodied. Sweet cherry, forest berries, hints of vanilla and smoke. Reserved (as to be expected). Fruitier on day two. Medium-bodied, with solid structure. Finished dry. Attractive. For mid-term drinking. Start from 2025+. 90+

The 2013 Le Coste de Monforte spent 36 months in large French oak barrels, plus an additional 6 months in the bottle before release. The wine itself elegant and refined, as it begins with aromas of strawberries and dried cherries which are woven together with rose petals, eucalyptus, wet stones and hints of smoke all developing in the glass. Medium-bodied and beautifully structured with fine tannins and outstanding overall focus and precision. The finish is long and dry, leaving a lasting impression of red fruits lingering. Still very primal at this stage, and will need some extended bottle age before it begins to show its best stuff, nonetheless a gorgeous Barolo.

”B3” Tasting Graz 2018 – Barolo, Barbaresco, Blaufränkisch 2018: Slightly bretty, an unpleasant funky oak note marrs most of the elegant fruit that lurks beneath. Otherwise this is quite elegant and feminine, with refreshing acidity and classy Nebbiolo flavors. For my palate, unfortunaltely, the bretty oak note ruins the wine. It was even worse for the Bussia 2013. For those who don't mind brett, forget my rating and give it a try. - 87 points
