  • Bob's cellar, last bottle. Pnp opening - pale red with bricking but again still looks good. Warm sweet nose, peppery tannin, low key and aged, and really good. Fine soft flavours of red fruit, age and receded tannins. Cork is in excellent conditions, and a stunning amount of sediment washed away for the double decant.
A few hours later, this wine is pale red, very fine, tiny hint of cloudiness but does not affect the nose or flavour. The nose is still warm, sweet, violets, faint peppery tannin and red fruit. Highly integrated, no sharp edges. Tasting is again superb, fine and delicate red fruit, faded into the background black fruits, very refined. The is a fantastic aged Shiraz where all the tannins have dropped away leaving the finest wine.

  • Bob’s cellar. Pale ruby red, definite bricking throughout. Soft sweet nose, damsons, cherries draped with a gossamer of aged violets and black pepper. Light. Tasting is nicely red fruited, together, spiciness, impressive. A couple of hours later and this has opened up really nicely. There is a well balanced red fruit on the nose, menthol and violets notes, with a background of black fruits, tannins and openness. Taste has knitted together with a tight redcurrant acidity, enough background sweetness for it not to be tart, peppery base, long flavours and a really together and enjoyae wine.Very good.
PS just noting this bottle has huge sediment almost coating the entire bottle. Decanted and a real effort (vigorous shakes) to get the sediment coating off the inside of the bottle to double decant back in.
