  • Drew is probably the best Pinot winery in or around Anderson Valley. I haven't any extended experience with wineries explicitly producing within the Mendocino Ridge AVA, mainly for lack of knowing where or how to taste of them. I can't stress how much I enjoy this albarino bottling that Drew has released for several years now. Whenever I lucky enough to have a tasting at their valley pour room, I'm distracted by the quality and tenor of this wine. I'm there to experience great Pinot, but this wine can steal the show. This particular vintage is incredibly sour and steely. It's sour in a way that really makes you pucker up, but there's a sparkle and magic on the palate that yields complexities that come across as tropical and sweet. There's great acidity, and even four days into the bottle, it's not at all daunted or diminished. I think this wine is as good as it gets for its style and region. It's executing on a level above the rest.
