Syrah Night with an Expanded Version of Our Tasting Group (Bear and Star, Los Olivos, CA): Astonishingly good. A perfectly stored bottle. Open for business right away. Smooth, sweet fruit, more currants than anything else, along with a fine minerality that I thought energized the wine without impacting its seamlessness. The flavors came in waves. 60-second finish. Bravo.

P & P'ed. Should have decanted, tons of sediment. Just had a glass after dinner and wow has this wine ever blossomed! Really intriguing nose of lush dark fruits, herbal aromas and old world funk. Palate is more of the same. This has turned into a serious syrah and I will post more after trying again tonight. Skipped day 2. Day 3 - Nice..........sweet cherry licorice, strawberries, fresh raspberries, cassis, baking spices on nose. Palate smooth as silk with bacon fat, hint of the fruits, very clean aftertaste. Medium bodied and full of charecter. Man is this a great wine!

Coming out of its slumber. Black and slightly cloudy. Perfumed, crystalline red fruits, white flowers, coal, woody underbrush and game. Medium to light bodied with good citrusy energy. Ink, dark rock and black fruits are displayed on the finish which a touch austere. A good wine that lacks a little flesh and clarity.

I agree with JonnyO this wine is drinking fantastic now, what a nice surprise. Have stored in a cold cellar since release and glad I did.

Fruit has mellowed, with blackberry, olives, licorice, herbs and iodine. Tannins are resolved and this is an elegant, slightly rustic drink.
