The nose was delightfully ripe and pretty, showing crushed blackberry and black cherry, with dusty sweet spice, violets and smoke. On the palate, I found silky textures balanced by lively acidity, giving way to ripe black fruits with a mineral crunch, notes of violet candies and lavender. It finished surprisingly long, showing palate-staining dark fruits and a coating of chalky sweet florals, spice and a bitter twang toward the close. Frankly, it's hard not to like this wine, which provides an amazing amount of pleasure at this price point.
