  • Unmistakably NZ, great purity of fruit, bright and fresh but not tart. Perfect ripeness. Quite a pretty style of Pinot, fresh red berries, delicate florals and just a hint of sweet mushrooms and earth.

At this age it is very gentle and tannins are silk. Good balance of fruit and remarkably only a few tertiary notes just appearing.

  • 92-93 Recent experience has cemented my bias towards NZ Pinot against US overextracted powerhouses. Jackson's single vineyard pinot exemplifies this; purity, finesse, poise, everything you expect and love from a Pinot, for a reasonable price.

Nosel: Cedar, pure raspberry, crushed rock, background mulling spice, pepper.

Pal: Med bod, high- acid in harmony; tobacco box, pine, gentle spice, cooked cherry and raspberry, mushroom. Precise, pure.

Fin: Measuredly dry, crushed rock, stalks, wild strawberry finesse.
