Uncorked for 10 hours prior to serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Pale ruby to the eyes.
Luxurious bouquet of bright cherry fruits, sage, florals and rose petals. Very nice and elegant. Serve this blind and people guessed Pinots and Syrahs.
Highly balanced palate with good acidity and minerality. Quite tannic but smooth texture.
93-94 points.
13 hours upon uncorked: a lot more rose petals. Still has a long way to go.

This is a big wine, with lots of ripe cherry, cooked plum, some spices and heat in the background, after a 2 hour decant the tannins on the palate had softened enough, fruit was generous, though a touch tart from the mid palate through the medium finish

Visit to Cascina Fontana (Perno, near Monforte d’Alba): This may have been a flawed bottle. After the tasting, we were given the rest of the bottle to take with us. It deteriorated and was worse the next day. On bouquet were raspberries, plums and other red fruit and soy notes, which, with time however became unpleasant and quite briny. On palate, from a positive perspective, it showed flavours of balsamic vinegar, red fruit, citrus zest and earth, with chalky tannins. Particularly on the second day though the palate moved blocky, disjointed and quite oxidative.

Drank at Porter House in Columbus Circle for my birthday dinner. initially it was a mouth fiull of Rock Hard. After about 30 mins in the glass it took a nice turn and opend up, a little. The color is very pretty garnet. Even after 2 houra it was atill tight. Flavors were primarily blackberry (not perfectly ripe, but tasty) lemon pith and a light touch of vanilla. Good wine, needs lots of time. Has potential over time.
