Somehow this happens to be my 3rd 2016 Riesling from this producer and vineyard; the first being the Spatlese Trocken, and the other being the "Bömer" Trocken. All 3 were awesome. For me this was lacking some of the complexity and depth of the others, but still, a really good wine! I just don't have as much of a sweet tooth. Lots of honeyed pineapple and fruit cake, some crisp and sharp citrusy acidity considering the sugary weight, and so on. A touch cloying after a while. Felt like it was on the sweeter side for a Kabinett for sure- still very balanced. In my opinion, functions better as a dessert than a drink-whenever wine.

Smells like a spontaneously fermented wine with notes of green apple, carambola and some funk. On the palate sweetish on the entry, then gradually gets drier and on the finish does not really carry any sweetness at all. Energetic and ultra juicy without the most prominent acidity ever but not lacking any either. There is clearly some fat here to shed, however not enough to take away from the drinkability. Great density and persistence, finishes mouth-watering. Very much green-fruited, nothing tropical or sugary about this one. Fantastic value.
