  • Pop and pour. In the glass, youthful magenta at the rim, shading immediately to opaque, dark indigo at the core. On the nose, currants with secondary notes of green pepper and mint. On the palate, less tannin-heavy than our first bottle from a couple of years ago, but still quite structured, with a vegetal/mineral backbone supporting currants and plums through the midpalate to a rough, rustic finish. Still not entirely sure where this one is headed, but unlike our last bottle, I'm less worried that it will end up some place I don't want to be.

  • Pop and pour - not entirely fair, I know. In the glass, deep, dark indigo. On the nose, currants and a faint hint of mint. On the palate, very fruit forward, with pure dark fruit on the attack, but holding everything else in reserve until the tannin-heavy finish. Not sure where this is headed.
