  • Primarily Nebbiolo with some native varieties.

Bricked garnet, semi transparent. Compact rim.

Rich bouquet of tar, rose petal, orange zest, flowery perfume, mushroom, earth, slight hint of cedary oak.

Typically Nebbiolo palate. Dusty tannin, medium plus acidity, 13% abv. Red cherry, currant, cranberry, Japanese plum. Hint of cinnamon, and other baking spices. Finish long on dry red fruits and spices.

I love this style of wine. Simple, honest, and elegant. Requires 4-5 hours of thorough decanting to uncoil. Wow, be patient and everything will come together. 91.

  • Perfectly mature from a bottle that most collectors wouldn't think to cellar for eighteen years. The bouquet of Nino Negri's '99 Quadrio showed fully mature with notes of tart cherry, spiced orange peel, cedar, dusty dried flowers and undergrowth. On the palate, I found zesty textures on a wiry frame with lively acidity, showing red wild berries, cedar and hints of savory spice. It finished with medium length lingering on inner dried florals, plum, tart cherry and minerals.
