This is a fine example of Assyrtiko and shows great typicity for the Clare Valley; comparisons to water are unfair. Assyrtiko is almost always pale lemon, and this is no different. Four years removed from the vintage, it's still relatively youthful, showing Clare Valley zesty, nearly sour lemon-lime fruit profile, quince, nectarine, white flower aromas of jasmine and citrus blossom, saline, sourdough, wet stone, and juniper. Aged in neutral, old oak barrels on its lees to give it more body and depth. The crisp acid stays with the elevated finish begging to cut through a fresh feta-tomato salad.
Paid $15 on Winebid.com, so it was worth trying at that price. However, I would stick to Santorini if you find the Jim Barry at the suggested retail of approximately $30. Santorini Assyrtiko is the better value in that price range.

Very clare valley, limey, excellent minerality. Getting secondary honeyed characteristics. Good mouthfeel. Briny aftertaste.
