Ripe, but not fully fruity, more candied violet, sweet tea, and sassafras tones than overtly fruity on the nose and rather stemmy/herbal with hints of sage. Has some body too it and a certain richness from the vintage with fruit flavors that are reticent but hint at earthy strawberries graced with roasted undertones and nuanced grapefruit pith accents along with a suggestion of molasses on the backend where center of the tongue tannins emerge to lend some grip Good length, good persistence to the fruit which shows some plummy overtones here, if modest intensity though one sense a bit of taut minerality lurking on the slightly chalky finale. A bit chunky if not large scaled. Better in 2020. Modest value
