Initial nose of loam and damp earth actually a little Bordeaux-like. Dried cherry fruit is present and the tannin is fully resolved. It forms some beautiful legs in the glass with swirling.Still quite pleasant but wish I had opened five years ago. This was a gift from my old friend Joseph 20 years ago.

We drank this right after doing a vertical of Staglin Family ('96-'99). This was a very compatible wines those. Seemed like there was a few more years left.

Wine Dinner, best of: Dave brought from cellar. needed an hour to open. soft tannins, ripe fruits, round, balanced, fruits are starting to disappear a bit, might be past its pirme. drank alongside other best of: 1998 Plumpjack Cab Sauv Oakville, 1998 Château Cos d'Estournel, 2004 Arnaldo Capraii Sagrantino di Montefalco Collepiano, 2001 Vina Almaviva Puente Alto Cab Sauv/Carm/Cab Franc Blend, 2004 Kosta Brown Pinot sonoma Coast.

Not over the hill yet but tannins and acidity are gone. Pleasant smooth, soft flavors without much palette coating or finish.
