Two glasses of Corofin at Glass Restaurant (Wellington, NZ): From older vines planted near Wither Hills, Marlborough, in the well regarded Cowley Family vineyard. On the nose, spicy red and black cherries, dry brushwood, red currants and warm earth with a whiff of violets in the top register. In the mouth, mainly red cherries, raspberries, minerals, topsoil and tobacco leaf with a touch of dark chocolate and a little cranberry. A slightly carbonic maceration-type feel. Good concentration and weight. Some pleasing savoury notes. A decent pinot to drink over the next 5-6 years.

PNP. Pale Ruby color. Intriguing aromas of strawberry, raspberry, buttered toast and green tea. Zippy on the palate, with red fruit and rhubarb on entry and a hint of umami in the finish. Mouthwatering and fruity, a nice weekday wine.
