Beautiful chardonnay. Well balanced with zippy acidity, orange peel/grapefruit/lemon curd flavours. Some vanilla and baking spice. Dusty smooth tannins, not really noticeable. Really enjoying this wine. Good overall depth of flavours. Long finish.

Aging beautifully. Very bright, almost floral on the nose, that lovely golden shade of colour with 6 years under its belt, traces of lemon curd, vanilla and maybe even a trace of cinnamon. Still a nice lone of acid lifting it all the way to the end. Top notch winemaking.

Leesy nose. Grapefruit. Very fine. Fine, intense fruit. Great balance. Good length. Needs time. Will develop very well. The next day showed greater richness and power, though still like a coiled spring. Odes well for its future.

Wow. Probably the best wine I tried all trip. This is stunning. Rich nose of fig, white peach, marzipan and pear. Smooth, balanced palate – apple, stone fruit, mealy characters, some fig. Length for days. Balance of a trapeze artist. Everything just so. Do you get the picture that I enjoyed it?

Paul & Keith’s Old World v New World Chardonnay Challenge (La Trompette, London): Blind. Guessed OW. Incredibly strong nose of dry oak. Quite fat with a degree of richness. Ripe vintage, quite serious. ***1/2
