Recent purchase and drank a few bottles over the last few months. Solid wine but aromatically muted, likely a reflection of the difficult vintage, elevated acidity, medium tannins, medium (-) body, fairly short. I guess this could add a point or two over the next 2-3 years but I doubt this will ever be a great Rioja.

Initially wine was very tannic. Nose all fruity and tannin.
Opened up - needs at least an hour. Nose became heated and black current like. Not particularly inviting but interesting none the less. Leather and earthy.
Plums blackberry and smoky, pepper - spicy from the Grenache.
Overall an approachable wine. QPR is solid as is with all Rioja. Few more years ageing and this should be a 90-91.
89 atm.

Medium deep purple color. Warm dried dark berries, woody, peppery, leathery on the nose. Dry, plump acidity, grainy tannins, nose reflected on palate. Medium full body. Good balance. Medium long finish. A lot of unapologetic power in this one.

Well aged at this point, cedar, tabacco, leather. Really showing the freshness and lightness of a colder vintage, which makes it very drinkable
