Deep golden color. Initial aroma of corn tassle (seriously) gives way to baked apple, butterscotch and fig. Full, creamy texture, with butterscotch, roasted cashew, melon and baked apple flavors. Medium/- finish. 89 pts or me, but Mrs. AllRed liked it a few points more than I (92).

Gourmet dinner #2 (Allred's home): Allred opened this bottle. Gold yellow color. A little too much oak for my tastes. 13.8% alcohol. No signs of heat or alcohol on the palate. Notes of creamy fruit and pineapple. 87 points.

Not sure what to make of this. Deep yellow, looked at lot older than it really is. It started with an odd aroma, somehting like olive juice. There was also some butterscotch and apple notes. Tasted better than it smelled, but not memorable. Maybe a flawed example, pehaps it's in an odd place. Will have to open another bottle sometime soon.

Time to drink this bottle! The '01 Reserve is an amazing wine, but its starting to lose its bouquet. We had a bottle a few years ago that was much more alive and vibrant. This was nice, but it wasn't the knock-out that we recalled it being. Bottoms up before you regret it!

Held on to these too long. Deep golden color, a bit oaky, smooth, nice fruit. Pleasant enough, but not anywhere near what it was.
