  • Mid red with a touch of amber, the nose starts with red and black fruits with some vanilla - shy at first but blossoms into a more complex animal but it is the palate which over one and a half hours delivers an astonishing development into a perfectly balanced and complex animal with over 80 secs of persistence. Heavy it is not but soft and ethereal it is. Reminds me of Ponsot’s best 1er and GCs of the 90s (if he had used any new oak!). This is an underrated wine. Before you disagree with me let me disclose that 1. I have drunk 18 bottles of this in the last year. 2. Compared it to many many other PNs side to side. 3. When I say well balanced I am comparing it to 1990 DRC Le Romanee Conti.
My question is why do so many tasting notes equate “power” or “tannic edge” to a better quality wine?

  • really attractive on the nose - brambles, cherry, cool and a touch savoury. some minerality on the palate, but a bit simple and lacking the same level of complexity and sophistication that was on the nose for me. lots of cherry and boiled sweets on the palate.

  • First time opening on of these. Gorgeous on the nose. Floral, elegant, pure red fruits but with a mineral wrapping. Would have called this a quality burgundy blind. Bit less complex on the palate, but I would expect it to add some weight and complexity with more age.

  • Medium ruby, decanted for one hour, elegant fruit balanced by light tannins, very nice wine that is improving.
