Remember liking this winery's Two Blondes from the same year a few years back so was unprepared to find this one so reduced and sweet. All blackberry, coffee and oak without enough acidity for lift or layering. Not my thing.

Wildly different from my last experience. Honestly this makes me think the last botte could have been lightly corked, unless the wine opened up a ton over the past year or two. Now there's some blueberries/cassis/plum on the nose, alongside grilled herbs. Medium plus tannin to be sure, but neither gritty nor intrusive. Decent acid. More fruit on the palate, along with the herbs presented by the pyrazines. This was quite nice.

Such a pleasure to drink. A great example of making the best wine you can that nature created. Doesn’t feel overworked, a great bottle for a myriad of food. Anything with mushrooms, pork, beef and even salmon. Well done!

Drank during on-line harvest update; solid and very drinkable, just not as complex as the Artz we also opened.

Absolute oak bomb. Hopefully will mellow out on night #2. This was like chewing on barrell staves.
