Very dark and leggy. Red cherry on the nose, but black cherry and cola on the mouth. Very tannic. I was afraid this was past it's prime, but it held together nicely. Served with a juicy steak and sauteed mushrooms.

Poured for Vintage friday. Somewhat muted nose, dark berries mostly. Nicely balanced petite, nothing earth shattering about it, but certainly in its prime drinking window. I'd decant for an hour to let it breath then enjoy.

Interesting older Petite Sirah with heady aromas of garrigue and berries reminiscent of a wine from the Southern Rhone. Flavors to match, with blackberry, macerated blueberries, and more herbs. Very nicely made wine, and at $26 good QPR for a stylish Petite Sirah that is far above the ordinary.

’02 Petite Sirah hits the ground running with robust aromas and flavors that punch on through to the finish. The deep inky color lures you in and the aromas—brambly and spicy, with herbal notes and rustic earthy essence—lead you on. The rich berry and vanilla flavors are framed in a balanced yet powerful structure of tannin, oak and acid. The midpalate reveals coffee and blackberry followed by a long mocha and fruit-driven finish. This rough-hewn wine deserves a hearty meal or cheese course to show its true merits. (Varietals: 75% Petite Sirah, 17% Mourvedre, 5% Syrah, 2% Zinfandel, 1% Carignane)(ALC: 13.7%)
