Oof! This is a tough one. From magnum. Ferrous on the nose - and ferocious on the palate. It's starting to reach the end of youth, but it's still quite tough. A bit closed - took a bit of shaking and swirling to get going, but it's pleasingly aromatic - all that Nebbiolo charm mmm. Still too angular, too firm for me. But all the power is there and will unfurl into glory in 5-10 years. A tad weaker and less explosive than the 2013s and 2015s. Not quite sure how to interpret the 2014 vintage.

Tasted blind. Aromatics of metal shavings and rose petal/flowers. Really spicy and dense, with tannin infusing the palate. Lots of tension and grip, the most tannic of the flight of Italians we had in front of us. Tangy, with a dried cherry and soil core. This will need time, to allow the grip to relax, although with enough air now there is a good amount of creamy, red fruit that emerges.

Served blind by Viet. Tasty wine, but still tight and required some time in the glass. Got delicious notes of cherry, some pepper, and more earthy notes. Some people called Nebbiolo and I agreed. I thought it was younger. These puppies need a lot of time! Lots of potential here.

Doing much better a few years down the road. Rose, sweet tar, cherry, silky.

blind: guessed Nebbiolo - in a traditional style but cherry forward and lots of structure at this point. Maybe a vintage factor.
