14.7% abv. 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier from Hudson Carneros vineyard. Dark crimson/magenta color, opaque core. Threw a fine sediment straight from cellar. Despite high alc not hot on nose at all - blue and red fruits, bay leaf, fragrant flowers, mildest sense of funk under it all. Med plus weight, quite smooth. Black cherries, more bay leaf, sun-dried tomato, flashes of grilled meat, savory and bacon. 45sec finish. Near peak drinking window, enjoy for another 7+ years. Exotic and stylish.

I was excited to try this based on Yankeerobio's notes, and I've had several vintages of this wine and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this bottle disappointed and will not be scored as it was not a typical Keplinger. The first glass was a PNP at cellar temp and the wine was cloying. I let it sit for an hour and after it had warmed up and breathed, it gained some spice and lost some (but not enough) of the sweetness. I've had corked wine and cooked wine; is there a flaw that can cause excessive sweetness?

Nose of violets and carnations. Blueberry, tart boysenberry, lilac, menthol, anise, white pepper. Outstanding

Spectacular wine. Great blue and black fruit, licorice, and slight white pepper. So smooth.
