K&L Burgundy tasting (Late Winter 2018): Kind of boring for a NSG. Ok nose, but seemed a bit closed; none of that Nuits funk. On the palate, flabby and soft red fruit; undistinguished; green pepper and a hint of grainy tannin on the finish. Seemed a touch coarse at this stage, and maybe will soften with some time in the bottle.

K&L Wines of Burgundy Tasting (K&L Wines, Redwood City, CA): Really striking wine. Profound and intense aromas of strawberry, leather, and pine. Lovely integration already, with near-perfect balance on the palate. And a long finish that kept surprising me with its persistence as I waited in line for the next wine in the flight!

Medium nose intensity with notes of red fruits, strawberries. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin.

With some of that smoke and spice, and a touch of leaness on the palate, but not in a bad way, just youthful.
