  • Clean, transparent and at its peak. Citrus, tropical fruits and flowers, and acid all in good balance at present. 94-95

  • From a virtually perfect looking bottle with a firm cork, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose offered up lemon zest, pear, white stone, honey and some dried apricot.

In the mouth, this wine was ripe but very crisp with outstanding length. It was so balanced and integrated that it was hard to tell which flavor was in the lead.

This bottle needed quite a bit of air to show its best. If you get one in great shape, do not hesitate to give it 2+ hours of decanter time before you start drinking.

  • From a pristine bottle purchased near release, this wine had a light yellow center and clear rims. The wine looked like it was 10 years old! The medium+ intensity nose offered up lemons, macaroons, white flowers, and honey.

In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied with great ripeness, firm acidity, and awesome balance. You could really taste the chalky soil in the long finish.

Amazingly, this wine got better during my evaluation despite 4 hours in a decanter prior to the start of the tasting. I believe it may still have a point or so of upside!

  • Didn't realize good chablis can last this long. Still very fresh citrus nose which gradually put on weight with honey, mazipan and white flowers. Acid mellowed down, rounded and balanced palate, most important is still very nice minerals at the end, lovely.

  • At Singer & Foy survey of '89 Raveneau. Bright, light straw color. Nose is stony, minerally. Some smoke. Palate is pretty good, though actually not as opulent or full as the Premier Crus. Rather tight. 5-10-15-8: 88/100.
