Very pale gold, youthful colour. Brilliant lustre. Gentle refined fragrance, spice and flowers. Peach, honey, stone fruit, citrus zest, all of which are delivered in a silky refined style. Finishing impression is minerality, and very long. Absolutely delicious, and still very youthful. Year’s ahead of it.

Off the list at Quay. Attractive white fruits and sea spray nose. Light to medium bodied, saline and mineral midpalate (oyster shell, flint etc), with great persistence. Wonderful.

The typical Chablis notes: iodine, sea shell etc., but here the vintage cuts the usual pleasure: for me too rich, not enough tension and length, not bad but nothing more.

A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Richebourg, Chablis, CDC and etc. (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Medium expressive nose displaying slightly coiled citrus fruit, wax, a hint of mint, honey, rainwater, acacia and medium mineral. Excellent concentration, nicely layered oily yellow fruit, rich yet cool, medium acidity and mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish. At the end of the night, the sommelier comments that she finds a fascinating note of gardenia and I agree. The fruit is concentrated but indistinguishable. However, there is a beautiful floral note a la Chave Hermitage Blanc, i.e. concentrated fruit but hard to pinpoint which fruit. I recommend a few hours of decanting time.

The one with Raveneau (Sonder): Unfortunately flawed. Such a shame.
