  Drunk for dinner with tarragon chicken. 13.5%. Medium bright ruby with purplish rim. Some red fruitiness and a bit of earthiness. Rather flat and two dimensional overall. Nice acidity and soft tannins. No real improvement over 2-4 days - so rather underwhelming and not living up to the hype. Overall well made but it did not engage me on this occasion.

  Aroma particular de fruta negra, muy herbáceo, especies, balsámicos, se percibe todavía la crianza en madera pero ésta empieza a estar muy bien integrada en el vino. No diría que tiene una acidez para aguantar 20 más en botella como dicen por aquí. Estupendo paso por boca, tantino sedoso pero persistente. Gran vino con una RCP estupenda.

  Unripe cherry and blackberry notes on the nose with ground stone and soil notes; silky smooth on palate followed by that nice med-high acidity; white pepper finish.
  
  Mencia is a great unknown varietal…and Raul Perez is a master!

  Not as good as the usual Perez but then again it cost c.£10 and at that price point it was decent. That said I think there are better Spanish wines at that price point.
