Community Tasting Notes (3) Median Score: 90 points

  • Suspiciously dark; clumsy nose, heavy on the palate. Prematurely aged. A faulty bottle?

  • Has much more than previous wine; baked apples, honeyed overtones; caramelised. Dryish finish, verging on austere. V. long. Needs time. 16

  • My first Barmes-Buecher but certainly not my last. The thing that really stood out for me in this wine is the steely minerality. It seems more like minerality I get in a good white Burgundy instead of other rieslings. It's got a nice acidity and cut. Bone dry rieslings taste sour to me and this has just enough residual sugar it's pleasant. It's right at the threshold of being unpleasant, but this was very good. No diesel on the nose. More like candied fruits. The palate was more white fruits and some citrus. Decent finish. The mid palate wasn't hollow, but aside from the minerality and the white fruit and citrus, there wasn't a lot of flavor. It didn't have depth to be a great wine. Went well with the Thai appetizers and soup. Imported by Encore Wine Imports.
