  In Cascais at a great little wine bar called the Tasting Room. Had a very nice Portuguese Syrah there previously so gave this one a go...
  
  Deep purple/magenta color. Nose of red fruits, dominated by oak. Ripe fruit and some spice on the palate that were, unfortunately, drowned out by the oak. Strong acidity, full body. medium finish.
  
  I can see what they are trying to do here, but they just overdid it with the oak (IMO). For a young wine I would like to say this will get better in time, but I dont think so. The went hard to the "spice rack" with this wine drowning out any real character the fruit may show.

  3 hour decant. 16%, Só Syrah.
  Delightful wine, as always from the Maroteirans - classic Syrah in the nose - rich fruit flavours, some spice, serious yum, and a fine finish - and all this from a wine barely born.
