Community Tasting Notes (27) Avg Score: 92.4 points

  • Medium purple in glass. Medium plus intensity on the nose. Meat, bacon fat, blueberries and violets. Medium acidity and medium plus tannins. Quite approachable. Great length on the finish. Well made with minimum 5-10 year runway. Excellent qpr at $50.

  • Notes from PNP - improved with airtime - medium red color. Nose was pretty tight - saline, blackberry, plum and touch of sweet tobacco. Palate more fruit driven (blackberry/ plum). Medium+ body, medium acidity / tannins and long finish. 91-92 range. 92+ with several hours of air.

  • Plums and slate with medium-plus tannins of a fine character. Acidity and body are medium-plus. Overall, this is a well made syrah.

  • Part of a syrah blind tasting.

"Some edging and bricking. Beautiful nose of red jam, herbal tinge, sweaty saddle leather. Full mouthfeel, light acidity that turns bright into the finish. Little bit of tart red fruits and nice tinge from acid and herbs. Has some good structure and tannins. Long finish that shows good mineral character, leather, garrigue. 92-94, definitely old world, maybe cote-rotie."

Lovely old-world style wine. Drinking well now and can go a bit longer.

  • Syrah Blind Tasting: Part of Syrah blind tasting:

"Similar color to #1. Vanilla and vegetable notes. Blackberry pie and black cherry. Some acid up front and trails off into a midpalate of red cherry and medium bodied, good structure. I think this is my wine (Hermitage 2016) 92pts. My favorite of the 4."

Not surprised when the bag came off but can see how someone can go with new world here. Very good structure and good depth of fruit. Has a classic high acid and minerally finish that I associate with Bordeaux. Probably has a few more years till it peaks. Also as the night went on the structure lasted and I started to get very strong cured meat notes. Loved drinking this.
