  • PnP
Drunk alongside the Cote Rotie from the same producer and vintage (which was far more closed off)
    —-
Closed off at first. Give this a decant. It opened up pretty quickly but was still improving by the time we finished the bottle after 3 hours
    Drinking extremely well young
Savoury, non-fruit aromas dominate (especially when compared to the Cote Rotie): black olive tapenade, iron and black fruits, eventually the nose opened up to blueberry
    Excellent length
    Concentrated palate
    Medium+ body with silky tannins
    Ageworthy

  • Nose: The nose is robust and balanced, filled with black cherries, black raspberries, violets, anise, black pepper, black currants, and a touch of herbs. The nose is extremely youthful, but it is also has an expressive side along with excellent depth.

Taste: The feel is Full bodied with integrated, medium acidity and chewy tannins. The structure is clearly youthful, but it isn't overbearing. The feel isn't as aggressive as a more rustic Cornas would be, but it is clearly full bodied with black cherries, black raspberries, violets, black pepper, some herbs, and a touch of black tea on the back end.

Overall: This is extremely youthful right now and certainly needs the better part of 5-8+ years. What is there is excellent and shows off a slightly more accessible style of Cornas, but it still has the grip and power that the region brings.
