SRH's description below is spot on, but since then the wine has continued to age beautifully. Smooth and delicious Montepulciano, better than many Vino Nobiles I have tried. Tannins have fully resolved and lack the harshness often found in Sangiovese. Paired well with marinated steak tips.

Needs 2-3 hrs aeration. Has a bit rustic and strapping black fruits, blue fruits, chocolate and minerals, nice acidity and red fruits. Ends mediumish and quite tannic. Lay down for a couple of years. 13.5%. Lacks elegance. Agree with SRH this is a food wine.

Sat, 08/04/18, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Typically, 80% Sangiovese & 20% Merlot grown in soft clay, slightly skeletal soils of various exposures; "Fermented in s/sl vats at a controlled temp, with milling that includes repassing the must over the grape dregs. Fermentation & maceration take 10-12 days." Aged for 8 mos, 20% in 2nd yr FR oak barriques, the remainder iin vats.
N: Fairly fragrant smoky berries
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt firmed by some puckerish astringency which QUITE resolves by the LONG, very, VERY slightly bitter finish with a swtish tinge to the dusty tannins. For now with food, & should improve for 6 mos or so, then drink admirably for 3 yrs more. NICELY done! My VG+/EXC-, arguably more IF the focus is QPR with current drinkability. [This vendor's $11.95 is as good as anyone on wine-searcher.]

Always a favorite with tomatoes sauce. Earthy yet full of cherrys. Typical of the area
