  • Such a great wine. Started at PnP and worked from there. Initially locked down by coffee notes, but 30 minutes showed promise where a bit more fruit peeked through. Inky, glycerin like. Some herbal notes on the nose. Blackberry and red raspberry in the early going. Needs more air.

Came back to this after 90 min. Intense roasted coffee notes gone, replaced by dark toffee and caramel, lucious red fruit menagerie, some herbal components, lovely mouthfeel front from to back. Seems to be missing the bubble gum notes I get from BMH (I know, I know, bubble gum is an oak effect, but BMH is the only vineyard I sense those).

At 2 hrs, much of the same, though I either convinced myself bubble gum notes appeared or they actually showed up with swirling. Who knows, but this was a damned good wine. Likely an apparition, no BG notes . . . anywhere later.

Everything held steady over 2-3 hr of drinking. Not my favorite rendition of BMH, but this is damned good.

  • $212. Cork. 12/30/23. We gave this gem 5 0r 10 minutes just sitting in the glass, then tasted, then shared with Sommelier and bar staff, and ALL were sreaming "INCREDIBLE!!!!". Thank you Mr. Beckstoffer for farming and harvesting the finest Rutherford Dust grown grapes. The rest of the magic is performed in the tanks by the finest vintners. Again, these are the finest grapes on earth. Salute!

  • Two hour decant. Deep dark vibrant magenta color. Minty chocolate, tar, bay leaf, and blackberry on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with chalky acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish.

This was a bit reduced and it didn’t improve over two hours of drinking.

  • Decanted 4 hours and still needs more. Too many green herbal notes at 4-5 hours. I don't remember this as much from previous bottles. 5+ hours and some green leaves, maybe some eucalyptus now? Nice balance of strong fruit, acidity and tannins at this point. It def got better with more air. The off putting green notes lessened considerably but the strong tannins remain and at times came across a little coarse. Not a great representation of the MH vineyard as far as the expected flavor profile. Maybe a slightly off bottle? Maybe going through a phase?
