Another really good 2002. Cork was solid, but wine-streaked from bottom to top. Opened 4 hours. A little funk upon opening, which lingered for a couple of hours. It gave way to an smoldering nose of incense, dark cherries, violets and brown sugar. Silky, creamy entry of red fruits and, with the texture, something akin to strawberry short cake. Some sweet tart too. The finish is tongue-coating mineral dust. Really interesting. I couldn't put it down. Fine.

Opened 2 hours, not decanted. Garnet without bricking. Aromas of strawberry and cherry fruit with strong floral notes, mint leaf and light spice. Layered almost creamy fruit with fine acidity and pulling tannins hitting at mid/late palate. Finishes with 'dirty' mineral. A little unfocused. Still primary, showing only hints of complexity. Nose and entry promise finesse, but falls short at present. Definitely of place. Wonderful match (edges blended) for halibut with veal/green peppercorn sauce.

Much better than expected. Had a good richness, very cherry flavors. Developed well in the glass. Not nearly as earthy as one imagines Burgundies. Had with boeuf bourgignon.

Nice and fruity with a mineral backbone, Paired great with fowl over beef etc, Cheesy funk blew ogff to reveal mint dental floss -- delicious! Great levels if fruit and acidity. 90 pts
