  • Well, it seems as though the verdict on this wine will have to remain split. I bought four bottles several years ago in Burgundy and I was waiting patiently for the wine to mature and develop that magical goodness that often results with an aged White Bourgogne. Unfortunately, there is another option: pre-mature oxidation. Dark in the glass with decided caramel notes, this is not completely oxidized, but it was certainly on its way. The fruit is gone, but there is still plenty of acidity and some buttered croissant aspects. When you roll the dice with white burgs, this is certainly a likely outcome. Still, those two incredible bottles might have made it worth it. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • What to think? Well, it is clear that the adage "there are no good wines, only good bottles" is accurate. I bought four bottles of this wine in France several years ago and the first bottle was phenomenal. A few years after that first one, the second bottle was decidedly less so, and while this latest go-around lies between the first two, it is decidedly much closer to the first experience. A bit golden in color and slightly muted on the nose, but delicious fruit (lemon curd) and fantastic secondary flavors (vanilla, cream, and the right amount of oak). I have one more bottle to go and I have my fingers crossed. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Well, it seems as though I waited too long to get to the second bottle. That first bottle, way back in 2011 was pretty phenomenal, but this one seemed a bit tired—fairly golden, a hint of oxidation on the nose, and muted flavors on the palate. Sure, it is still drinkable, but it is a shell of its former self. Two bottles left—I might have to take a moment and cry. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Wow. One of the best white burgs I have had in a while. Nots of lemon zest and vanilla with hints of oak. Silky smooth mouth feel and very long finish. Outstanding verging on extraordinary.
