Excelente!

Tasting of wines from Viña Vik (Vik A 2014, Milla Calla 2013, La Piu Belle 2011 and VIK 2011). Vik A is a simplier version of Milla Calla with the advantage of being at it's peak, while Milla Calla needs more time in the bottle. In a different level of quality, the same relation can be felt when comparing La Piu Belle to VIK. Long decanting solves a big part of the issue for Milla Cala and VIK though.

Aroma a frutos negros, almendras, madera y tierra húmeda, notas tostadas, cocoa. Tiene una combinación de aromas suaves, ninguna cepa pasa por encima del resto, es un balance elegante, sin astringencia, seco, entrada frutal en boca, con final largo y suave, que bien se nota como el Merlot suaviza el cabernet sauvignon

47% CS, 44% Carmenere, 9%Cabernet Franc. Owned by a Norwegian. This is essentially his entry level wine. Nose is complex. Dark fruit. Savoury herbs. Tobacco. Graphite. Chocolate. Left bank Bordeaux like. Palate is more modern. Dark ripe fruit, vanilla, camphor but keeps a streak of acidity without being over-oaked or hot. Still has some tannic grip for further aging. Around 3,000 cases made. 92+ https://winediplomats.com/

Rich, opulent, depth and purity on the nose of this big Bordeaux type blend. Immediately a favorite Chilean Red blend, pertineer up there with Don Melchor Cab…
This is a sophisticated beverage, complete on the palate. Tannins incredibly integrated, it’s polished and ripe; and while there is an abundance of fruit, solid acidity stabilizes and finishes the vin. This is no fruit bomb (NOT a Caymus style wine).
Punching at if-not-above its (restaurant) price-- $89 on the menu at the Brazilian Steak House (they discounted it for our large group to $70 and offered us a take home bottle for $50) and it is worth it in terms of what we’ve had for similar prices.
Unfortunately, at a business hour luncheon, we had no time to really let it open up, but over the hour or so drinking, it matched up nicely with the multitude of commanding meats and peppers on the plate. May have been rated even higher with aeration time. All components are incredibly well balanced. In terms of its presence on the palate, it reminds us of the incredible Stairway to Heaven Shiraz we had on Mallorca (and wrote about on CT), but could not get back to our cellar in the States.
OK, here we go, comparing a wine to others vins again… Richer than Heitz, bigger than Ilatraia, this goodness reminded us of the 2014 Vina Cobos Cocodrilo Corte ’cept this is bigger, better. Yup, thinking of The Don here, in terms of how good this was.
We will be drinking this juice again- hopefully soon! Oh, and it has the backbone to hold up for many more years.
Yum.
